TELLER COUNTY, Colo. (KRDO) -- Two people are dead after a serious crash in Teller County on Sunday afternoon.

Colorado State Patrol says it received reports just after 2 p.m. regarding a serious traffic crash on Highway 24 near milepost 277.

When troopers arrived, they found five vehicles involved in the accident. Two people on a Harley Davidson motorcycle were killed in the crash, according to CSP.

A 59-year-old man was driving that motorcycle east on Colorado 24. CSP said the rider failed to stop when traffic backed up abruptly.

The motorcycle ran into a Toyota FJ Cruiser and then into oncoming traffic. The motorcycle was hit by a Dodge Ram 1500.

CSP said the driver of the motorcycle and a 65-year-old woman who was a passenger with him were both thrown from the motorcycle.

The Dodge Ram kept driving and ran into a 1998 Dodge Ram 3500 head-on. A 5th vehicle was hit by debris, but it was not directly involved in the crash.

The driver and passenger on the motorcycle died on the scene. There were no other injuries.

Colorado State Patrol said troopers are still investigating but do not suspect speed and alcohol were factors in the crash.
