2 dead after shooting in Pueblo, police looking for vehicle of interest
PUEBLO, Colo. (KRDO) -- Two people have died after a shooting in Pueblo early Saturday morning.
Around 12:30 a.m., the Pueblo Police Department was dispatched to a parking lot on Northern and Prairie with reports of a shooting. People who work nearby told KRDO it was the Safeway parking lot.
When officers arrived, they found two men laying on the ground with gunshot wounds to their chests. Officers and paramedics immediately rendered first aid but the two men died at the scene.
Another individual with a shrapnel wound to the leg was taken from the scene to a hospital. He was treated and released.
Officers say they interviewed the shooter and several witnesses. An initial investigation revealed that the two deceased males approached a large group of people and attempted to rob them at gunpoint. The shooter fired at the men that tried to rob him and others.
Pueblo Police say it is also looking for a newer white Lexus with red rims. The vehicle is known to frequent the area of Mesa Junction in Pueblo. Detectives say they would like to talk to the occupants about the circumstances of this incident.
The county coroner has not revealed the identities of the two men who died from their injuries. Police say no arrests have been made.
