Crews battle grass fire burning in Otero County
OTERO COUNTY, Colo. (KRDO) -- A large grass fire that started Thursday night on Fort Carson training land in Otero County has burned 1,800 acres as of Friday.
A spokesperson with Fort Carson says the blaze is in a remote area within the training site known as Piñon Canyon Maneuver Site.
Fort Carson says no structures nor personnel are threatened at the time of this writing. Ground crews worked throughout the night Thursday with air support joining Friday morning.

Fort Carson fire crews have requested additional help from the U.S. Forest Service and surrounding community fire departments including Pueblo and Cimarron Hills.
The fire remains under investigation, but authorities don't believe military training was the cause.
