Colorado Springs Fire Department Class of 2020-1 graduates Friday
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) -- The Colorado Springs Fire Department will commemorate the Class of 2020-1 in a graduation ceremony Friday.
CSFD says, "After a long and unusual 17 weeks, these 27 CSFD recruits have completed all requirements, classes and certifications."
The training division is excited to transfer this group to the Operations Division. According to CSFD, the group has displayed tremendous skills on the drill ground as well as adaptability when their academy was modified due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The graduation ceremony, also unorthodox, will be held outdoors at the Heart of Springs Church with social distancing standards. The ceremony is family-only. Mayor Suthers, the fire chief, deputy chiefs and Training Division will be in attendance. Suthers will administer a group swearing-in followed by the traditional badge pinning ceremony.
Fire Chief Collas, as well as a class representative, will also address the academy and their families with brief words of encouragement and wisdom.
