As many as 40 arrested while protesting in Colorado Springs

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) -- As tensions run high, El Paso County reports more than two dozen people have been booked into the county jail after nearly a week of protests.

The arrest records provided cover protests from Saturday to Wednesday. Charges have varied and include charges like obstructing a peace officer or fireman, driving under the influence, reckless driving, criminal mischief, resisting arrest, and more.

Of those arrested, most were from Colorado Springs and nearby cities, while two were from Cripple Creek, one was from Broomfield and another was from Woodland Park.

Lt. Jim Sokolik with the Colorado Springs Police Department said we are still compiling information about arrests.

"I do not have a firm date on when that it," he said.
