Pueblo Police investigating after missing 3-year-old prompted AMBER Alert
EL PASO COUNTY, Colo. (KRDO) -- An AMBER Alert issued Saturday afternoon prompted a frenzied search for 3-year-old Savannah Camele. Savannah was found several hours later after authorities said she had been reportedly assaulted and abducted by 53-year-old Ricky Trujillo.
Trujillo is now in custody and could be facing several charges, according to Sgt. Ortega with the Pueblo Police Department. Trujillo hasn't been officially charged at this time, but Ortega says he could be facing felony menacing, kidnapping and assault.
We're still waiting to learn the specific details of the event. The initial AMBER Alert report alleged Savannah had been in a car with her grandmother when Trujillo assaulted Savannah and pushed her grandmother out the car before driving off. They were last seen south of Fountain at the intersection of Hanover and Old Pueblo.
Trujillo was found several hours later in the Bessemer area of Pueblo. He was arrested without incident, police say. Savannah was found safe in a separate location, according to Pueblo PD.
Authorities deactivated the AMBER Alert just before 5 p.m.
