2 juveniles arrested after stealing car with child inside, CSPD says

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) -- Two juveniles were arrested early Wednesday morning after they stole a car with a third child inside, police said.

According to the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD), it all started just before 1 a.m. Wednesday, when officers were called to Cheyenne Meadows Road and East Meadow Drive about a motor vehicle theft.

There, parents of a 13-year-old told police they were following a stolen vehicle believed to have their child inside.

Police said officers found the car near South Academy and Highway 115, where they saw two juveniles running into a field near Fort Carson. CSPD along with Fort Carson Military Police set up a perimeter in the area, police said.

The juveniles surrendered "peacefully" and were taken into custody after a police K9 "issued warnings over a loudspeaker."

Police said the car was stolen on Westmeadow Drive near Cheyenne Meadows Road and South Nevada Avenue.

The ages of the juveniles were not released.
