Colorado Springs man charged with indecent exposure at Memorial Park

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) - A 47-year-old man was arrested Thursday at Memorial Park in Colorado Springs on charges of indecent exposure and unwanted sexual contact.

Police said Benny Moore allegedly spent hours exposing himself to park visitors before officers took him into custody.

The Colorado Springs Police Department received the initial call regarding the incident around noon on Thursday, but officers did not make the arrest until approximately 4 p.m. Police cited a string of bank robberies occurring around the same time for tying up department resources and delaying their response.

Prior to the arrest, we spoke to workers at Memorial Park who say they were approached by two girls asking for help. The girls reported that a man was watching and following them with his hands down his pants, prompting workers to call the police non-emergency line.

During the nearly four-hour period between the initial police report and his arrest, police said Moore ran around the park, hid and changed his clothing.

Following his arrest, the Colorado Springs Police Department reported that Moore was released on a serve-and-release misdemeanor.
