District 20 pulled job offer from Letecia Stauch 3 days before stepson disappeared
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) -- Academy District 20 sent an email to parents notifying them that Letecia Stauch was set to teach at Mountain Ridge Middle School before they pulled her job offer.
Officials at District 20 say they pulled Stauch's job offer after reference checks revealed inconsistencies on her resume.
Stauch started orientation at Mountain Ridge Middle School on January 22nd, 2020 - two days later, the district notified her that they would no longer be hiring her.
Stauch's stepson, Gannon, was reported missing on Jan. 27. A monthlong search for him involved hundreds of people, but Stauch was arrested Monday in South Carolina before being extradited back to Colorado.
District 20 says the extent of Letecia Stauch's time on campus included meetings with administrators and teachers, and that she was around children on campus.
Stauch had also worked at the Widefield School District in Southern El Paso County in 2019.
She also taught in South Carolina until her license was revoked in 2016 for abandoning her job without notice.
Officials at District 20 say because of Letecia Stauch's trial and the charges against her, they are limited in what they can comment regarding her previous employment with them.
