KRDO13 spoke with a woman who works right behind the crash.
Karin Kennedy said she and her colleagues went to lunch, and not long after they returned, they all heard the crash right around 2:30 p.m. She says she rushed to call 911.
"The big thing for me was when I found out there was a teenager or someone's child, and, I mean, we're all someone's child, but, this is someone that hasn't, hasn't reached adulthood, and and I just kept thinking, there's going to be a mom or dad, that their life is just going to fall apart when they hear this. And it just hit a little too close to home for me," explained Karin Kennedy.
She said it was difficult to hear the mother of one of the kids involved scream at the scene of the crash. Kennedy said her heart is with all of the families impacted by this.
"We went home, and we cried," Kennedy shared, "I'm so sorry to the mother. I'm so sad for all the families involved."
Kennedy is imploring drivers to use caution and be aware of their surroundings.
"Just have common sense. Someone's life literally is on the line every time you get in your car. And it really is that simple," said Kennedy.
A verified GoFundMe has been created to support the family.
Colorado Springs Police Department initially reported that six individuals were involved; they have since corrected this information. The most recent details are above.
