Randy Bishop, man accused of shooting Colorado Springs police officer, appears in court
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) -- Randy Bishop, the fugitive that was on the run for a little over two months, appeared in court for the first time Tuesday.
Bishop is facing over a dozen charges related to several incidents and ongoing investigations from both CSPD and the El Paso County Sheriff's Office. He's accused of shooting at police officers multiple times -- once in an escape from a Colorado Springs hospital and again at a later date when fleeing a traffic stop.
Bishop's criminal defense attorney, Michael Stuzynski, filed a motion to unseal the arrest warrant and arrest affidavit for his spree of crimes.
His lawyer revealed in court that new charges are also pending including Felony Menacing with a Real/Simulated Weapon and Assault Causing Serious Bodily Injury.
In court it was mentioned there are talks of a possible offer or plea deal on the table.
Bishop was taken into custody in November, but escaped from Memorial Hospital. He was later arrested in January after officers found Bishop driving a blue Mercedes in the 900 block of Tammany Drive.
A preliminary trial has been set for February 25, when all of his pending cases will be discussed.
