Scott Harrison

I have nearly 25 years of experience in TV news, including the past 10 years spent here at KRDO NewsChannel 13. Over the years, I have been a reporter and anchor for news and sports, a photographer, an editor and a producer. Throughout my career, the pace of the job has increased considerably. Stations are adding new shows, along with adding radio and Internet responsibilities. Covering TV news is more hectic and stressful than when I began my career as a graduate of the University of Missouri School of Journalism. I graduated with degrees in Broadcast Journalism and English.

My first job was at WTVA in Tupelo, Mississippi. The city is famous for being the birthplace of Elvis Presley and the first city to have concrete highways. Next, I went to WOOD-TV in Grand Rapids, Michigan, the second city largest in the state. I then took a break from news for two years before returning at WLOX-TV in Biloxi, Mississippi, an area that had a booming casino industry before Hurricane Katrina ravaged the Gulf Coast in 2005. I covered several hurricanes, but they were minor and far below Katrina. I loved the mild winters, the seafood and the sweet tea, but I definitely don't miss the humidity!

My next job was at WKRG-TV in Mobile, Alabama. Mobile is considered to be the place where Mardi Gras began before it moved to New Orleans. The city is less than an hour from the Florida and Mississippi state lines. After Mobile, I left the profession again for two years before getting the call from KRDO NewsChannel 13.

I have enjoyed living in Colorado Springs. I have wanted to live in Colorado since I was a boy after visiting my relatives in Denver. I hope Colorado is my permanent home.
