‘White Butte Fire’ on Fort Carson 50% contained

FORT CARSON, Colo. (KRDO) - A wildfire ignited on Fort Carson Thursday afternoon.

According to the Mountain Post, they first responded to reports of a fire at Range 143, just before 2 p.m. on Oct. 3.

Fort Carson said four Fort Carson units responded to the fire, along with mutual-aid units from Security, Monument, and the Colorado Springs fire departments. The El Paso County Wildland Fire Team also assisted.

According to Fort Carson, on Friday, Oct. 4, the fire had grown to approximately 100 acres but was 50 percent contained. The fire has not damaged any property or infrastructure and no injuries have been reported.

The cause of the fire is under investigation, Fort Carson said.
