Grass fire ignites northeast of Colorado Springs, is quickly quashed

A grass fire that ignited east of Marksheffel and south of Woodmen roads on the northeast side of the city Monday night was quickly brought under control by fire crews.

Both the Colorado Springs Fire Department and the Falcon Fire Department responded and to get the blaze under control.

A tweet from CSFD at approximately 9:30 p.m. said the grass fire grew to five acres before crews knocked it down and began to mop up the area. They ask motorists and pedestrians to avoid the area between Tamlin and Dublin roads east of US 21.

The cause has not been determined.
