Officer-involved shooting sends one person to the hospital with serious injuries in Colorado Springs
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) - An investigation is underway after a Colorado Springs police officer shot someone during a foot chase.
Just before 1 a.m. on Sunday morning police say they were patrolling near East Colorado Avenue and South Nevada when they "observed a disturbance" at a nearby business.
Police say when they attempted to identify themselves to the suspect involved, the person was holding a gun and took off northbound on South Nevada.
As they chased the suspect, one officer fired at least one shot, hitting the suspect.
We're told the suspect is currently in the hospital with serious injuries.
The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office is now the leading investigation.
