Subaru recalling more than 400,000 vehicles for engine issues

Subaru is recalling more than 400,000 vehicles in the US.

The first recall involves Imprezas from the 2017 to 2019 model years, and Crosstreks from the 2018 and 2019 model years. In a statement to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the automaker says power may continue going to the engine even after it’s shut off. That could eventually cause a short circuit and blown fuse, and may even contribute to a crash.

The second recall involves Imprezas from the 2017 to 2019 model years, and Crosstreks from the 2018 model year. Subaru says Positive Crankcase Ventilation valves may come apart and cause debris to fall into the engine. This could cause a loss of power, and possibly a crash.

There are no reports of crashes related to this problem. Subaru will notify owners of affected models. Owners can bring their cars into the dealership beginning on December 13.
