Suspect crashes stolen car into Colorado Springs police cruiser to get away
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) -- When a police officer stumbled upon a suspicious vehicle that turned out to be stolen, the driver turned a Colorado Springs parking lot into a demolition derby so they could escape.
According to Colorado Springs police, the officer found the stolen vehicle in a lot near 3000 N. Chestnut Street shortly after 12:30 a.m. Wednesday. When the officer went up to talk to the people inside, the driver backed the car into the police cruiser and then took off.
Officers found the vehicle abandoned near Strauss Lane and Sage Street, and police are still looking for the suspects involved.
The police officer wasn't injured in the crash.
