Cheba Hut officially opens in Colorado Springs

Cheba Hut is finally serving its stoner-themed sub sandwiches in the Springs after decades in Colorado.

The sub shop opened up Monday to lines of hungry patrons in central Colorado Springs. It’s at 3171 N. Chestnut Street, according to Cheba Hut’s website. (MAP)

The hut is known for toasted subs named after cannabis strains (like White Widow and Acapulco Gold), snacks that are straight out of a stoner’s drawer of munchies (think loaded nachos made with Doritos and ranch, or a no-nonsense plate of meatballs), and original artwork.

For Colorado Springs, the sub shop took inspiration from Garden of the Gods with its wall mural: a series of Greek Gods and Goddesses are depicted smoking the devil’s lettuce.

Each store also develops its own secret menu based on employees’ ideas and customers’ suggestions.

The chain has been expanding rapidly in recent years. There are dozens of stores open in several states, and company owner Scott Jennings told Westword he sees the company adding “three to five locations a year, both franchised and company-owned.”
