Two armed robberies reported within an hour, police believe they may be connected
CSPD believes two reported robberies early Saturday morning may be connected.
The first one occurred at approximately 1:40 a.m. when a male suspect allegedly entered a business in the 2500 block of Tenderfoot Hill Street and held an employee at gunpoint. The suspect demanded money and pistol-whipped the employee in the head before fleeing with an undisclosed amount of money.
Then, at approximately 2:20 a.m. that same morning, a suspect who matched the description of the previous robbery entered the Holiday Inn at the 100 block of North Spruce Street and held up two employees at gunpoint.
A spokesperson who wishes to remain anonymous tells KRDO that an overnight worker was talking with her boyfriend when a suspect jumped over the counter. According to the spokesperson the suspect was carrying a gun behind his back.
The suspect demanded money but the employee did not have the key to the safe. The suspect instead collected $135 from employees on staff at the time. The suspect then pistol-whipped the female staff member and her boyfriend in the head. The suspect then fled the scene.
Officers arrived on the scene shortly thereafter but were unable to locate the suspect.
This is an ongoing investigation. If you have any information regarding this crime and its suspect, you can contact the Colorado Springs Police Department at (719)-385-2125.
