60-year-old woman dies and 8-year-old seriously injured in Costilla County crash

A 60-year-old woman from Center, Colorado died Monday night and an 8-year-old was transported to the hospital with life-threatening injuries following a head-on crash.

The crash happened on Hwy 160 east of Ft. Garland.

Further investigation revealed that 65-year-old Jack Holker was driving a 2017 Hyundai Elantra eastbound when he went into the westbound lanes and collided with a black 2007 Ford Focus.

Sharon Duran, 60, was driving the Ford Focus and was pronounced dead on the scene. An 8-year-old juvenile passenger was also in the vehicle and was transported with life-threatening injuries.

Holker was transported to the hospital with serious injuries.

Colorado State Patrol says everyone involved was wearing their seatbelt.

The crash is still under investigation, but fatigued driving is considered a factor in the crash.
