WATCH: Brazil gang leader dresses up as daughter in failed prison escape attempt
A Brazilian gang leader dressed up as his 19-year-old daughter in an attempt to escape prison, reported ABC News.
Clauvino da Silva, also known as “Shorty”, made a bid for freedom by changing places with his daughter when she came to visit him at Gericinó prison.
Prison officials say the nervousness displayed by the individual as he tried to leave dressed as a woman tipped them off. Allegedly, da Silva’s plan was to leave his daughter in the prison in his place. Authorities are investigating her as a possible accomplice
Rio’s State Secretary of Prison Administration released a video of da Silva where he is seen removing a silicon mask, dark wig, and pink shirt. Brazilian authorities say that da Silva was part of Red Command, one of the most powerful criminal groups in Brazil that controlled drug trafficking in areas of Rio.
After his failed escape attempt, da Silva was transferred to a maximum-security prison where he will face disciplinary sanctions.
