District 49 welcomes elementary students back with brand new school

On a typical first day of school, parents dropped off their pre-schoolers through second graders at a new and unique school for District 49 called Inspiration View Elementary School.

“I like it, it’s definitely a big school. It looks awesome inside and I’m pretty sure the kids are going to love it,” said Lori Perez, a mother of one student.

“It’s really nice. I like how all the grades are down different hallways and meet in the middle,” mom Genevieve told us.

Principal Kristy Rigdon has implemented the “Arts Integration Focus” to teaching.

“It’s an approach to teaching in which students construct their understanding of all the different standards through an art form,” Rigdon told us.

The school has been built to integrate that learning style, with state-of-the-art stages and lighting areas, a fully operable green room, common area and the latest technology in every classroom.

“Inspiration view elementary school is not only about the view that you see on the outside, but it’s also about what happens on the inside,” Rigdon told us.

Construction on the new school began just last year. The project came in under budget, and was completed ahead of schedule.
