Training round found near Woodland Park realty office causes brief scare

UPDATE: Woodland Park police say the “possible unexploded ordnance” found Tuesday near Coldwell Banker was determined by the Fort Carson Explosive Unit to be a training round.

The Woodland Park Police Department is investigating a report of a possible unexploded ordnance near a realty office in the southeast part of the town.

Police say they got the report of the item around 3:30 p.m. near Coldwell Banker, which is close to Hwy 24 off Morning Sun Drive. WPPD is asking the public to avoid that area. ( MAP )

The Colorado Springs Regional Explosives Unit is on its way to Woodland Park to “take over the situation,” according to WPPD.
