Tornado spotted Friday in storm near Falcon
Severe weather moved through the area northeast of Colorado Springs and a funnel cloud that produced a tornado was spotted near Falcon on Friday afternoon.
It damaged quite a few campers at the Falcon Storage Center, which was captured on a surveillance camera at the lot.
John Woolsey , the center’s owner, said it was the worst storm he’s seen in his more than 15 years in business.
” We rent storage space to dozens of RV, camper and vehicle owners, ” he said. ” Many of the vehicles were flipped over or heavily damaged by the strong winds. Much of our wooden perimeter fence is down. Windows were blown out. It’s a huge mess. ”
Woolsey said he and his staff will begin assessing the damage on Saturday morning, and contact affected customers.
” Until we contact you, please don’t show up to see about your vehicle, ” he said. ” Just give us a call. ”
The tornado was spotted on the ground near U.S. 24. The National Weather Service confirmed it touched down briefly northeast of Falcon. KRDO viewer Ash Parker shared a picture from Highway 24 and Old Falcon Highway.
