Warning for female real estate agents in Colorado Springs
Mysterious calls are targeting female real estate agents in Colorado who are working alone.
It happened to Pam Palone, an agent with ReMax Properties.
“It’s that fear of just not knowing why they were doing that, it didn’t make sense,” said Palone, referring to a recent showing in Colorado Springs.
It all started with a phone call from a couple interested in a home in the Northgate area.
“I agreed to meet them,” she said.
But during the tour, the situation took a weird turn.
“The drapes had all been open on this house and as we were walking through, we got to a third bedroom, and all of a sudden I got a chill… after realizing they can shut the blinds in every room we went to,” she said.
Danger can come with any job, but there are certain situations that can make any one of us more vulnerable. This one being an example, for Palone.
“You just have this sense or feeling and know it’s time to get out,” said Palone.
Thankfully, she did and made it out safe.
It’s those mysterious requests that Colorado Springs Crime Prevention Officer M.J. Thompson advises real estate agents to verify the I.D. of any potential new clients.
“That’s what I started doing,” said Palone. “That way someone has their information if I’m in a home.”
