‘Unsolved Mysteries’ returns to Netflix as reboot with help from producers of ‘Stranger Things’

Amateur sleuths, rejoice! Netflix has announced Friday plans to do a reboot of the long-running true crime series ‘Unsolved Mysteries.’

The streaming service will be put together by its original creators and producers of Netflix’s hit show “Stranger Things.”

The producers have promised the reboot will have a “modern take” on the series that will, once again, ask viewers to help aid investigations and close criminal murder cases. Deadline reports the show will also show reenactments, just like the original did.

It is still unclear who will host the rebooted version of ‘Unsolved Mysteries.’ The original version of the series ran between 1987 to 1997 on NBC. It was picked back up by CBS for an additional two years, and then was on Lifetime for two more seasons in the early 2000s.

The Hollywood actor best-known for his role in “The Untouchables”, Robert Stack, hosted those versions of the show.

Stack died in 2003, and for five years, that was the end of the series.

Another reboot, hosted by actor Dennis Farina, aired for two seasons on Spike TV from 2008 to 2010.
