Man accused of stealing woman’s purse in T.J. Maxx identified, worked with deported felon
On Wednesday, the Colorado Springs obtained an arrest warrant for the man accused of pickpocketing purses from three women and is linked to the story we told you about when a 71-year-old woman’s purse was nabbed from TJ Maxx.
Police are searching for 28-year-old Matias Giordon Vera Serey who they say worked with 32-year-old Pamela Pomar on Sept. 15 when they stole purses from women at Whole Foods, Big Daddy’s Burger Bar, and TJ Maxx. They’re also suspected of being linked to a theft at the Castle Rock Panera Bread on the same day.
On Nov. 20, Colorado Springs police said Pomar was arrested in Ventura, California. Vera Serey is also believed to be in California.
Pomar is reportedly associated with a group of up to 25 Peruvian nationals who have committed thefts across the country. Pomar has also been linked to eight other cases in Colorado since 2014 and 17 cases nationwide.
CSPD described Pomar as a Peruvian national, though we don’t know her current legal status as a U.S. resident. She has been previously deported, according to a police report.
