Colorado Springs police identify victim, suspect in shooting outside apartment
Colorado Springs police say they’ve arrested a suspect and identified the victim after a shooting at an apartment complex in northeast Colorado Springs.
The shooting happened around 9 p.m. Friday at Ridgeview Place Apartments on Knoll Lane. Candace R. Jones, 35, was found dead in the street after neighbors tried to perform CPR on her.
We still don’t know what led to the shooting, but police said Tuesday that 28-year-old Jamie Crawford was arrested for first-degree murder. We’re still waiting on Crawford’s mugshot.

Police are investigating the fatal shooting of a woman that happened Friday evening at an apartment complex in northeast Colorado Springs.
Around 9 p.m., officers were called to the Ridgeview Place Apartments on Knoll Lane, near North Academy and North Carefree.
Initially, they responded to a report of shots fired, then learned a woman was shot several times.
A Newschannel 13 crew arriving at the scene confirmed that the victim, believed to be a woman in her 30s, was found outside one of the apartments.
Witnesses told police the suspect the victim was involved in an argument with the suspect before shooting. Neighbors say they heard several gunshots, then a pause, then another several gunshots.
The woman was left lying in the street, and a neighbor who heard the shots performed CPR on her until paramedics arrived. She was pronounced dead shortly after.
After the shooting, the suspect left the scene in a brown or black Chevrolet Impala.
