The goats are back in Colorado Springs, where you can see them
The goats are back! Bear Creek Regional Park is currently hosting about 500 of the four-legged gardeners.
This is the 20th year the non-profit Bear Creek Garden Association has teamed up with Lani Malmberg, co-owner of Goat Green.
As soon as the goats arrive, they become like mini lawn-mowers, mulching the weeds, without the need for harmful chemicals.
“They’re fertilizing, irrigating, tilling, and doing all kinds of stuff to this garden soil,” said Malmberg.
Over time, this approach changes the landscape, aiding vegetable growth. Well trained dogs also held herd the goats and keep them in line.
If you’re headed to check out the goats, this year, there is an added bonus. Four baby cashmere “goats in training” will be here, giving you just one more reason to bring the kiddos out.
Dogs are also welcome to the park, but please keep in mind, they should be on a leash. Organizers say there’s just no way to predict how your pooch will react to seeing 500 goats.
The goats will be out until Sunday, November 4th.
