Cloudy and chilly for some, sunshine for others – 9/28/18

TODAY: We start the day out with mostly sunny skies in most locations, with ongoing developing cloud cover out over the far eastern plains. This is thanks to a cold front dropping in from the north today. Cloud cover becomes more extensive for areas there as we go through the mid morning. Drizzle or light rain is also possible. Because not much sun will be seen out east, highs will only be in the 50s there. These clouds try to make more of a westward push toward I-25 today, but will not likely sock the Pikes Peak Region in. Areas along I-25 should remain partly cloudy with highs in the low 60s to upper 50s. Mountain cities will be even warmer under mostly sunny skies.

TONIGHT: Fog develops in many places this evening. Look for that through the Pikes Peak Region and out east. Lows will be in the 30s and 40s tonight.

EXTENDED: We are looking ahead to a beautiful weekend here in the southern half of the state. Skies will be mostly sunny and our temperatures climb into the 70s and 80s. Places through Teller County are under a fire weather watch for Saturday, which could be upgraded to a red flag. Look for dry, breezy conditions there through the day and warm highs in the 70s. We stay dry and quiet through Monday until moisture chances increase into Tuesday.
