Pueblo engineer found dead, police investigating as homicide
A 64-year-old man was found dead Tuesday afternoon in northwest Pueblo and police are looking for information on a suspect in the homicide.
Pueblo police identified the victim as Parvez Daruwala. At about 3:15 p.m. Tuesday, police officers went to a home on Rawhide Road and found Daruwala deceased.
A search of the home was conducted through Tuesday evening, and detectives found evidence of a homicide. PPD says it’s the eighth homicide in the city so far this year.
Daruwala’s cause of death hasn’t been released, and an autopsy is scheduled for Thursday.
According to Daruwala’s LinkedIn, he was an engineer at Bechtel’s Pueblo Chemical Weapons Elimination Plant. A spokesperson with Bechtel says that the company’s “hearts are broken to learn of his death and his absence leaves a void for not only his engineering family who worked closely with him, but for all of us who knew him.” Bechtel says operations at the depot weren’t impacted by Daruwala’s unexpected death.
The homicide is still under investigation, we’re expecting more updates when Daruwala’s autopsy is completed.
Funeral services will be held at 6 p.m. Friday at Montgomery & Steward, 1317 North Main Street.
