Schools in NE Colorado Springs placed on lockout due to police activity

UPDATE: Colorado Springs School District 11 says the lockout at Russell Middle School and Keller and Fremont elementary schools has been lifted after police activity nearby Monday afternoon.

Several schools in northeast Colorado Springs are on lockout due to police activity in the area, according to District 11.

Russell Middle School and Keller and Fremont elementary schools were on lockouts. (MAP) Students and staff inside were safe, according to District 11.

Colorado Springs police haven’t released any information about what’s going on, but District 11 posted to Twitter about the lockout shortly after 1:20 p.m.
