Fire crews say the damage is the result of someone trying to repair a pipe with a torch.
While the 2 people are okay, fire crews have not been able to find the homeowner's two cats.
“One of the homeowners was trying to repair a pipe inside with a torch and that fire spread to some material inside the home and it actually got in between the wall. So that's going to be one of those fires that we're always concerned about spreading," Ashley Franco, CSFD PIO said.
Crews tell us the fire caused significant damage to the back side, but the house is not deemed a total loss at this point.
The Red Cross is working with the homeowners to get them shelter for the time being.
Crews urge people to not heat their pipes with torches. Instead, call a professional plumber to come check it out.
