Man found dead in Lake Pueblo was a Fort Carson soldier
It was a Fort Carson soldier whose body was pulled out of the Lake Pueblo State Park Sunday morning, the post confirmed Monday.
Monday evening, the soldier was identified as SSgt. Matthew Riggs, 31, of Orlando. He was assigned to the 2nd Infantry Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division at Fort Carson on July 15, 2015.

Crews had searched the lake after the man went missing Saturday night. His body was recovered in 30 feet of water in Cottonwood Creek Cove, below an 80-foot cliff.
Riggs earned numerous awards throughout his career, including: Army Commendation Medal (2), Army Achievement Medal (2), Meritorious Unit Commendation, Army Good Conduct Medal (2), National Defense Service Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal with Campaign Star, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Korea Defense Service Medal, Noncommissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon (3), NATO Medal (2), Combat Infantry Badge, Air Assault Badge and Driver and Mechanic Badge.

Sunday morning crews recovered a body in Cottonwood Creek Cove below an 80 foot cliff. This is where a man went missing Saturday night. The body was in 30 feet of water. The investigation has been turned over to the Pueblo County Coroner.

Crews are trying to find a man last seen in the water at Lake Pueblo State Park Saturday evening.
According to a tweet from Colorado Parks and Wildlife, search and rescue teams are trying to find the man in Cottonwood Cove on the southwest side of the lake.
A dive team from the Pueblo County Sheriff’s Office was searching in about 30 feet of water to try to find the man, CPW said he’s in his 30s.
Colorado Parks and Wildlife said crews had to stop searching due to darkness Saturday night and will be back searching the Cottonwood Cove Sunday morning.
The Cottonwood Cove area is closed to boat traffic due to the search.
