Scattered afternoon storms – 07/17/18

Today: Across southern Colorado, we have more chances for scattered storms this afternoon! While there could be one or two storms that become marginally severe with large hail and damaging gusts, this threat will be primarily north and east of our area. Beyond that, we’re tracking gusts to roughly 45 mph, small hail and pockets of heavy rain. Of course (this time of year), we have to monitor local, recent burn scars for the possibility for flash flooding. Stick with us! We’ll have partly sunny skies today with highs in the 80s and 90s for the lower elevations.

Tonight: Overnight, storms wind down. We’ll have mostly cloudy skies overnight. Lows cool to the 50s and 60s.

Extended: We only have a slight chance for spotty storms on Wednesday, but most of us stay dry. We’ll be dry altogether on Thursday! It will be hot as well. Temperatures will soar to the 90s and low 100s on Thursday. Friday and into this upcoming weekend, there will be increasing storms with the return of the threat for heavy rain over burn scars.
