Colorado Springs man pleads guilty to sexual assault of a child
A Colorado Springs man accused of having sex with a 14-year-old girl pleaded guilty Tuesday.
Romello Leach pleaded guilty to one count of sexual assault of a child. He’ll be sentenced on September 17 and faces 10 years to life on sex offender intensive supervised probation. That program isn’t a prison sentence, but if Leach fails to complete it, he could go to prison.
Previous testimony had indicated that Leach impregnated the girl, but it turned out the child was not his.
According to the affidavit report, Leach had multiple sexual relations with a 14-year-old girl, starting in 2016.
Leach admitted the behavior was wrong and stated he was full of lust at the time.
Last May, El Paso County Deputy Lora Lowry received a call about a sexual assault on a child.
The victim said she had two sexual encounters with Leach: one in November 2016 and another in February or April 2017.
A recorded phone conversation between Leach and his ex-wife was provided in the investigation. In the conversation, Leach’s ex-wife asks Leach if he slept a 14-year-old girl and why he got her pregnant. Leach then responds by saying he made the worst mistake.
