Victim identified after deadly Canon City house fire

The person found dead by firefighters after a house fire that broke out two weeks ago in Canon City has been identified.

According to the Fremont County Sheriff’s Office, 77-year-old Kenneth Orchard was killed in the fire. No other information was released Tuesday.

The sheriff’s office says the fire is suspicious and is being investigated. No suspects have been identified.

One person was found dead when firefighters were called to a house fire Tuesday morning in Canon City.

Canon City Area Fire Protection District Lt. Shane Roberts told our partners at the Pueblo Chieftain that firefighters went to a house in the 1800 block of Pinion Avenue and found smoke and fire.

When crews started dousing flames, they went inside and found a deceased person, Roberts said. The person’s identity hasn’t been released. No other injuries were reported.

The house itself suffered moderate damage. The cause of the fire still isn’t known yet.
