Teens fire bullets out of moving car in Colorado Springs

Colorado Springs Police is investigating a shooting that involved a group of teens firing bullets from a moving car Wednesday morning on the northeast side of the city.

It happened at the Woodland Hills Apartment complex just after midnight in the 2800 block of Woodland Hills Drive.

“I heard some yelling it sounded like people were fighting,” said Jimmy Hee, a witness who called it in.

Investigators say it started as an argument that escalated between two suspects and a group of teens.

“As the teens were leaving the area by car, suspects heard several shots fired,” said Lt. Sokolik.

The two suspects standing near the complex armed themselves with a shotgun and a pistol, firing back at the group of teens. Both suspects were taken into custody on weapons-related charges.

“That’s the last thing you want to wake up to, a crime scene,” said Steven Baglio, a neighbor living nearby.

Police data shows on average there’s been around 1,000 juvenile arrests per year for the past five years.

“It scares me to death, it really does scare me,” said Hee.

The names of the two suspects in custody haven’t been released yet.

It’s still unclear if any of the teens were hurt.
