Teller County police identify suspect involved in police shooting
Officers have identified 52-year-old Jeffrey Bader as the man behind the police shooting that took place early Monday morning. Bader crashed his vehicle at mile marker 51. When deputies and officers approached him, the suspect attacked them. At least one shot was fired, striking the suspect.
Bader was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. During the attack, a Teller County deputy and a Cripple Creek Police officer received non-life threatening injuries and were also taken to a hospital.
Bader has been charged with attempted murder in the first degree, second-degree assault and vehicular eluding. He was in possession of a Texas driver’s license. His current residency is unknown.
Bader’s photo, as well as the information on the police officers involved in the shooting, will be released later this week.

Teller County sheriff’s deputies and Cripple Creek Police officers responded to a suspicious person call on the 1200 block of Highway 67, just after 8:00 p.m. Sunday. When they arrived, a man immediately sped off in his vehicle and a chase began.
A short time later, the man crashed his vehicle at mile marker 51. When deputies and officers approached him, the suspect attacked them. At least one shot was fired, striking the suspect.

Highway 67 was closed at mile marker 51 and didn’t reopen until 8:30 a.m.
The Deadly Force Investigation Team from the Colorado Springs Police Department is leading the investigation. The officers and deputies involved in this incident are now on routine administrative leave.
