Warm and breezy with isolated storms – 05/22/18

Today: We’re tracking another warm afternoon! Highs will be reaching the 70s and 80s in the lower elevations with the 60s for the local mountains. Partly to mostly sunny skies are expected across southern Colorado. It will be gusty! In fact, we’ll be dealing with a borderline Wind Alert Level One! A few gusts could be reaching the 30s (this will be primarily the case in the eastern plains). Later this afternoon, we have a slight chance for a few storms. While a couple of thunderstorms could be strong, we’re not anticipating severe storms.

Tonight: Overnight lows drop to the 40s and 50s under partly cloudy skies. It could still be gusty in the eastern plains into early Wednesday. A few storms could linger out east overnight as well. We’ll track it!

Extended: We’ll be warmer and drier on Wednesday. While it will be breezy with slightly elevated fire danger, I’m not expecting Mother Nature to cause any problems for the Air Force Academy graduation and the Thunderbirds flyover. In the eastern plains tomorrow, a few storms could be severe: capable of producing damaging gusts and large hail. We’ll be dry for much of southern Colorado into this upcoming weekend. In fact, we’ll warm to the 80s and 90s! There could be periods of fire danger. Stick with us!
