Police chase ends with suspect shot in Teller County
UPDATE: Colorado Springs police are investigating a shooting involving police and deputies. This follows reports of a deputy and an officer being attacked following a police chase off Highway 67 Sunday night.
Highway 67 reopened around 8:30 Monday morning after being closed for several hours. The only visible damage was to a guardrail the suspect crashed into.
“It’s sad and it’s shocking,” said Les-Lee Clark, a neighbor living nearby. “Sadly there are those people that can’t get it together.”
The suspect was shot and immediately sent to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The Teller County deputy and the Cripple Creek police officer also sustained non-life threatening injuries and are currently being treated at a local hospital.
“I was devastated because it’s Cripple Creek, it’s not really a big town,” said Brittany Vonkamp, a neighbor who lives down the street from the scene.
