Crews continue to work grass fire burning near Ellicot, pre-evacuation orders lifted
A grass fire burning near Ellicott in El Paso County Monday is not immediately threatening any homes and pre-evacuation orders have been lifted, authorities say.
Crews will continue to work on the blaze throughout the night to keep hotspots under control.
No houses were harmed by the fire, but the blaze burned 408 acres and destroyed at least two outbuildings. Fire crews provided aid to an elderly woman, helping her out of her home.

Firefighters are working on extinguishing a grass fire that started Monday afternoon east of Colorado Springs.
The fire is at 1010 N. Blaney Road, which is near the Waste Management plant.
El Paso County Sheriff’s Office issued a mandatory evacuation order for residents between Curtis and Blaney Roads from Highway 94 north to Davis Road before downgrading that at about 3:40 p.m.
By 4 p.m., the flames had been significantly cut, and smoke wasn’t as thick as when the fire peaked.
The Cimarron Hills Fire Department reportedly sent a brush truck to help with the firefighting efforts. Other crews were also called to the area, according to emergency dispatch traffic.
According to our crew at the scene, at least one building caught fire.
