District 11 giving teachers, support staff pay raises

Beginning July 1, teachers and support professionals in Colorado Springs District 11 will see more money in their paychecks thanks to a $42 million mill levy override.

The additional funds were approved by voters in November, and part of those funds will go toward the following pay bumps for staffers:

Teacher experience steps will be funded Teacher academic credits will be funded The salary schedule will change to reflect a new beginning teacher salary of $39,000, with appropriate increases throughout Service increments of 14/25 years will be funded for eligible teachers

In addition, the district will continue contributions to PERA and insurance premiums.

Support professionals will also see the following salary package increases, according to the district:

A one-step movement on the pay scale, equal to approximately a two-percent pay increase A two-percent recurring increase to the base salary A one-time, non-recurring salary adjustment for ESP who are capped at step 25, the highest step in the ESP pay scale
