Electrical issue most likely caused fire at Bishop Castle
Investigators say Tuesday’s overnight fire at Bishop Castle was most likely an electrical problem. The popular roadside attraction reopened Thursday at 9 a.m.
Though the castle was not damaged, the gift shop and an accessory building were destroyed.
Not much was left of the two outbuildings. Visitors say they were unhappy to find out about the fire.
“It’s a really nice castle and I’m really happy it didn’t burn down. It kind of sucks that the gift shop did because I was looking forward to buying a t-shirt,” says Devin Brophy. He and his family were visiting from Broomfield.
“Hopefully it wasn’t something done intentionally because we [got to] take care of this. These are basically monuments for our families, state, and everybody, this is for everybody to enjoy,” adds Luis Diaz.
The fire left about $185,000 worth of damages.
