Colorado Springs non-profit garden offers the community a chance to harvest produce
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) - Buying organic or locally sourced groceries can be expensive - that's why one Colorado Springs nonprofit is working to make it easier.
The Sustainable Educational Experience said it focuses on environmental stewardship. Every Tuesday and Saturday the organization hosts a donations-based "pick and pay experience." There, people can harvest their own produce from a community garden.
It's all donation-based, but they suggest paying about $5 per pound of produce. The garden at 3860 Old Ranch Rd. Colorado Springs, off Old Ranch Road, north of Powers and Union.
The event runs from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. on Tuesdays and 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Saturdays. People are asked to bring containers for the produce.
The pick and pay will continue through Oct. 17.
