Colorado man arrested after hidden marijuana falls onto highway

A Colorado man’s plan to sneak more than 100 pounds of marijuana across state lines was foiled when the weed started falling out of a hidden compartment onto Interstate 80 in Nebraska.

According to the Nebraska State Patrol, travelers reported seeing a package fall from a trailer Friday near Odessa. One trooper found the package and noted it was filled with marijuana. Another trooper found the trailer being pulled by a Dodge pickup truck.

Troopers searched the trailer and found a hidden compartment built into the undercarriage containing more packages. The total amount of marijuana seized was 122 pounds with an estimated street value of $366,000.

Charlie Red, 48, of Colorado was driving the truck with a passenger, 29-year-old Damaisy Rodriguez. Red and Rodriguez were both charged with possession of marijuana, possession with intent to deliver, and no drug tax stamp. They were booked into the Buffalo County Jail.
