Documents: Infidelity led to fatal stabbing in El Paso County apartment
The first homicide of 2018 in unincorporated El Paso County came after the victim learned that his suspected killer was cheating on him with another man.
Tatyana King was taken into custody Wednesday for fatally stabbing a man at an apartment complex in the 1600 block of Hampton South.
Documents obtained by KRDO say that the victim, identified as Jerwarren Donterious Jackson, learned that King was sleeping with another man, and a “physical altercation” occurred inside the apartment when Jackson attempted to pack his clothes.
King told investigators that Jackson punched her in the face after learning of the infidelity, and that’s when King stabbed him. She first said she used a piece of broken glass but later said she used a knife.
Investigators obtained surveillance video from the apartment complex which shows Jackson clutching his abdomen and looking backward as he exited the apartment. King could be seen walking after him holding a knife.
One witness said she heard Jackson begging for his life, pleading to King, “Babe stop, please just stop.”
Witnesses said King followed Jackson outside and kicked him while he laid on the ground with the stab wound. King also admitted to investigators that she told Jackson she “hoped he died,” when he was on the ground.
Jackson was taken to Memorial Hospital, where he later died.
King currently faces a charge of first-degree murder. Bond information wasn’t available.
