Suspect in fatal Colorado Springs Kmart shooting arrested
The Colorado Springs Police Department arrested 23-year-old Michael Joseph Parkhurst II for first-degree murder after a fatal shooting last Wednesday at the North Nevada Avenue Kmart .
Parkhurst is accused of killing 23-year-old Cory William Forbush, a resident of Manitou Springs. He was arrested Friday night by the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office, according to CSPD.
Forbush died following the shooting.
The Colorado Springs Police Department first got a call about the shooting at the Kmart off N. Nevada at around 6:30 p.m.
When officers arrived, they found a man wounded in the parking lot. He was taken to the hospital where he later died.

Investigators remained on the scene into the early morning hours of Thursday.
Kmart closed and shoppers were told to leave their vehicles in the parking lot so detectives could examine them for bullet holes or other evidence. CSPD allowed witnesses to pick up their vehicles on Thursday morning.
