Man says unlicensed cannabis clubs are operating illegally

A business owner is standing up for his marijuana club after he says others aren’t following the law.

Jaymen Johnson spoke out for Speakeasy Vape Lounge, the marijuana club he owns, by standing in front of the administration building.

“We wanted to set an example in our industry and for our community and we wanted to work with the city in compliance,” said Johnson.

According to the ordinance put in place by City Council a year ago, you can take your own cannabis and go to a club and smoke it but you do have to bring your own.

Johnson says the Speakeasy Vape Lounge complies with this law, relying mainly on its snack and water sales as its source of income, but Johnson claims other clubs have a different way of making money, selling weed illegally.
