Much needed rain expected for Southern Colorado

rain

TODAY: Mostly cloudy with increasing chances for rain as we head into the mid and late morning hours. Light showers are likely through the Pikes Peak Region and along I-25 between 9am and noon, with more widely scattered thunderstorms between noon and 6pm. Locally heavy rainfall and frequent lightning are likely with some of these storms today. 0.25” or less is expected for rainfall accumulations, which is great news for our worsening drought situation.

TONIGHT: Drying out after 9pm with decreasing clouds through tomorrow morning. Lows will be in the 40s tonight.

EXTENDED: We will be mainly dry and much warmer Tuesday through Thursday. Highs will return to the 60s, 70s and 80s. Some areas in Pueblo and east will be close to that 90 degree mark on Wednesday! Scattered storm chances and cooler highs move back in again over the course of next weekend.
